Clean Water Project
Our project
Accessibility to clean water towards good health
as you may be aware is basically aimed at improving health and
reduces poverty level among the 9,600 population of 16 identified
communities in our project area Twifu Hemang Lower Denkyira District in
the Central region of
Ghana.
The main problem of the identified project communities is poor health of the people. In the absence of potable
water supply and sanitation facilities
in the project communities, the rate of death associated with the ten
most common diseases, which are preventable has increased steadily in
the last 5 years.
Infant mortality rate is presently high. Seven 7 out of every Ten 10 deaths result from diseases such as
Malaria, Severe Diarrhoea and Upper
Respiratory Track infection. The high rate of deaths associated with
these preventable diseases is now a major concern to all stakeholders in
the communities of our project area.
“Poor Health” in this context means; Heaps of refuse seen in project communities, faecal matter of both humans and animals can be seen around, animals and humans use the same source of water from streams and ponds, that is accessible at long distance and there are Malnourished Children seen in all the project communities. Low awareness about these problems, perceptions of the target population about the causes of the diseases and their effects on the live of the people still remains to be a major problem. With funding from 1% Development Fund, Kitchen Table Charitable Trust and recently Faith Presbyterian Church in the US , we have been able to provide 5 Hand Dug Wells and 1 KVIP Toilet to some of the project communities. 4 hand dug wells are also under construction with funds so far received from Advance for hope project # 3021026.

SCSI is comprised of faith-based and community individuals that began to meet after the death of Francis L. Patton. Francis was a homeless Native American who fell asleep in a dumpster and was crushed by a sanitation compactor and died shorty thereafter. It is in his memory that SCSI does its work.
The United Methodist Church has sponsored SCSI through yearly grants to help fund its ministry. This years grant award is $6000.
